Acts 17:26-31
Why should we celebrate the United States of America? After all, we have killed 63 million babies in the womb. Even with the Dobbs decision, we continue to kill babies with mail-order drugs so that pharmaceutical companies can earn billions on the mayhem. We enslaved over 3 million Africans and exploited their labor for the benefit of about 2% of the population. Even today, we promote sexual and labor slavery at a higher rate! Let that sink in. More slavery is practiced today. We allow and continue to promote sexual deviation in our schools, our churches, and our government. We threw God out of schools and the public square. We are inviting the godless, antichrist institutions of communism, socialism, and Islam into our government. The government God created. Indeed, why celebrate this country?
Because God created it and ordained its path. As with all countries, He set our boundaries and brought the people (Acts 17:26). We celebrate because we realize what man has made of God’s gift was not His plan! We celebrate to wake people up and to explore what we were founded to accomplish. We are here to serve God! He did not decree that we would murder His babies. He did not give us permission to enslave millions of His creations. He did not tell us to create sexual deviancy and celebrate its presence. God did not tell us to kick Him out of government and introduce anti-Christ spirits. The reason we celebrate our birthday and foundation is that we celebrate the country God intended us to be. We celebrate what He established and what we can still become.
Let’s look at what God created.
In 1492, God sent Christopher Columbus on a voyage to find an alternate route to India. The Muslims had cut off the spice trade routes to China and India by taking control of the Middle East. Instead, God had Columbus find the West Indies. These islands were a very short jaunt from the New World, soon to be called America.
In 1607, while Luther and others were just beginning the preparations that would become the Reformation, a small group of explorers landed at Cape Henry and dedicated the land to God. They were almost wiped out twice by famine and/or native tribes. But God! They survived.
In 1620, another intrepid band of Separatists, fleeing religious persecution, was blown off course and landed in an area God had prepared for them, Plymouth, MA. They too almost died of famine and native attacks, but they survived and prospered. They celebrated God’s goodness. More followed, and colonies were established spanning from current day Maine to current day South Carolina. These men and women thanked God, established worship first, and then established governments aligned with the Bible. God blessed them.
In 1730, this fledgling country experienced its first Great Awakening and a return to God. The awakening prepared a nation that had begun drifting from God for the events that would start in 1765, which signaled their long fight for independence from the world’s largest and strongest country. This struggle would become kinetic in 1770 with the Boston Massacre, heated by the Boston Tea Party in 1773, and exploded on the Lexington Green in 1775. Led by a pastor. A member of the “Black-Robe Regiment!” Jonas Clark led the men of his congregation onto the green at Lexington. Other pastors, like the Muehler brothers, led their congregations into and through the war. However, the coup de main would happen the following year, July 4th, 1776, with the Declaration of Independence. Two hundred and fifty years ago, yesterday.
The original declaration document, when first published, sported only two signatures, John Hancock, President of the Congress, and Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Congress. In August, the remaining “traitors” gathered again in Philadelphia, added their signatures to the document, and pledged their “lives, fortunes, and sacred honors” to the establishment of a new, independent America. There were 56 signatures. This prompted Ben Franklin to say, “We must all hang together, or we will hang separately.”
These men literally put their lives, their fortunes, and the lives of their families on the line. They did so with great prayer. A full 29 of the 56 signers held degrees from Bible Colleges. 54 of the 56 were strongly professing Christians, and many were pastors. The lies of atheistic, revisionist historians who say our founders were deists and/or Bible haters are easily debunked by a casual review of the personal and public writings of these men. Our founders were not deists or atheists. They were profoundly men of God.
The revolution did not always go well. But God protected the Continental Army through many battles. He was teaching this country to lean on Him, not on a man or their own understanding. In New York, the army’s retreat from Brooklyn Heights was aided by a severe storm that stopped the British fleet and by a providential fog bank that concealed the colonials’ movements. At Trenton, NJ., the Hessian mercenaries were driven inside by a winter storm that masked the movement of the troops as they crossed the Delaware River. The colonials took the Hessians by surprise and kept the push for freedom alive.
In South Carolina, Lord Cornwallis was defeated by a ragtag army at Cowpens and Kings Mountain. From there, he retreated to Yorktown, where he was defeated and ultimately surrendered the entire British Army. A largely untrained militia defeated the world’s largest army and navy, with the providential help of the French navy. God’s hand was on this country from the beginning. And the Founding Fathers prayed and issued decrees calling for prayer and fasting. We were founded on Judeo-Christian values. Regardless of what the lost souls like Biden, Obama, Tucker Carlson, and many Uni-Party Republicans and Socialist Democrats say.
God pulled 13 disparate colonies together into 13 states governed by a common constitution. A Constitution that was, after God’s engagement again, unanimously ratified in 1791. For 250 years, this nation has lived. It was supposed to be a shining light on the hill, as John Winthrop, JFK, and Ronald Reagan said, sharing God’s Word to a lost world. We have sometimes fulfilled that duty, while at other times we have fallen short. God continued to bless this nation through slavery, the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. When we have lost our way, He judges and punishes us. We are in a period of judgment now.
We have lost our first love. Many of our churches are members of the Laodicean lukewarm denomination. Many are corrupted by false doctrines and deviancies of all types. The culture has followed this apostasy by demanding atheism in the form of socialism and communism in government. We are watching as leaders in our country are elected or appointed who promote killing babies, marrying 9-year-old girls, transgender lies, openly war against our constitution, and who are openly homosexual. Supreme Court judges who can’t tell us what a woman is…and she is one! How thick is the veil of ignorance that lies across the eyes of many in this nation! How long will God hold His hand?
Those of us in God’s remnant still celebrate this country. We celebrate what God intended it to be and what our forefathers made it. We honor the men and women who have given, and those actively giving, their time and a part of their lives to protect us. We honor those who gave the last full measure to protect our freedom. Can we get back to what God intended? Yes, but it will take work, blood, sweat, and tears. Will we make it back from the precipice of extinction? Remember, America is not mentioned in the Bible, and especially at the end times. Do we have time to intercede in prayer and action? Yes, but can we avoid judgment? I don’t know.
I love this country; what it was supposed to be. I love God more and realize that everything this country possesses is because of God. He can and will judge our fall. For 250 years, we have been a country. For 236 years, we have had the same Constitution. We are the only country in the world that can make that claim. The average age of a constitution is 17 years. God is in our Declaration of Independence and in our Constitution. As the Church of Jesus Christ, we need to fight to protect that. We need to fast and pray.
Our Founding Fathers were not deists. We have been lied to. Franklin and Thomas Jefferson may have been the least “Christian,” but even their actions and private writings would point in a different direction. A group of academics undertook a 10-year study of the Founding Fathers and their writings in order to prove or disprove the claim that they were anti-Christian or deists. This group of researchers studied over 1,000 documents and cataloged 3,400 quotes. Here are the published results:

Second most quoted was Barone Montesquieu, the 18th-century French political philosopher, judge, and historian best known for his influential work The Spirit of Laws (1748). A key Enlightenment thinker, he developed the theory of separation of powers—executive, legislative, and judicial—shaping modern constitutional democracies. 8.3% of all citations.
The third most quoted (7.9%) was Sir William Blackstone. He was an English jurist, justice, and Tory politician most noted for his Commentaries on the Laws of England, which became the best-known description of the doctrines of the English common law. All American lawyers studied Blackstone’s commentaries on the law and held a copy in their libraries.
The fourth most quoted was John Locke (2.9%). His Two Treatises on Government argues for government based on the consent of the governed and the right to revolt against tyrannous government, which has lost consent. The Two Treatises clearly influenced the language that Thomas Jefferson chose in drafting the July 1776 Declaration of Independence.
Of all the sources, it is most notable that our “deist” founders quoted from the book they supposedly did not believe in and hated. Your government and their schools have lied to you.
We are a Judeo-Christian nation. The Supreme Court ruled in 1892 in support of that position. Are we perfect? Far from it. But God continued to use our country to advance His plan worldwide. Will He continue? Will we return to Him in time to avoid the judgment and fate of so many other nations? Make no mistake, we are experiencing His judgment today. That judgment is not yet fully released since we still have freedom, prosperity, and Christ. However, when we see some locations begin to elect atheistic communists and Islamist, and we see Sharia law instituted, judgment is here. Our culture worships at the altars of Ishtar and Baal and sacrifice babies and normal sexual relations. Unless we change and return to God, time is short.
We saw churches being illegally closed in 2020 and 2021. We saw pastors hauled off to jail. Our brothers and sisters around the world are being martyred. We see the capitalistic form of economy under attack to be replaced by anti-Biblical DEI and communist “free equity.”
We still have a great country. We have the Freedom God gave us. We have the right to fight for that freedom and to say what we want to say and to worship the God in heaven who gave it all to us. That is why Thomas Jefferson wrote these words:
“When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”
It is interesting to note that this same man is quoted in a letter to John Adams’ son-in-law, reminding the new government that “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” He was willing to put the provisions of the newly drafted Constitution and God’s covenant to the test, if need be.
Don’t misinterpret what I am saying. I am not calling for armed rebellion in any manner. I pray that it will never happen. All I am saying is that the church of Jesus Christ has to stay involved. Of the 28 grievances in the Declaration of Independence, 4 were against the judiciary, several were directed at the King and Parliament, and several were directed at the Church of England and free worship. Only one was the “taxation without representation” that we are told started the whole shooting match. Our Founding Fathers were after freedom of government, freedom of rule, and freedom of worship…nothing else. The people of this country wanted to be free of tyranny, to worship God as they chose, and to establish a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Before all of this, God-given freedom is gone; stand-up church. Tell your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren the truth. Above all, tell them about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Stand therefore and fight against the principalities that seek to destroy what God created (Ephesians 6:13-18).
