God created government (Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 33:22, James 4:12). To recognize that truth, in March of 1776, the Continental Congress issued a proclamation dedicating these United States to God Almighty. That proclamation was wholly and unequivocally Christian. It called for<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201ca day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer, that we may appease His (God\u2019s) righteous displeasure, and through merit and the mediation of Jesus Christ obtain His pardon and forgiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day they chose was May 17, 1776. The Revolutionary War had just begun, and there was a great need for prayer as these 13 upstart colonies entered battle with the strongest army and navy known to man. Without God, our Founding Fathers knew we could not prevail, but with Him, we could not fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In March of this year, President Trump called for a day of rededication to God for these United States. The day is to be May 17, 2026, 250 years after the first day of dedication. A great deal of historic water has flowed under our country\u2019s bridge. Some of it has been calm and good, some of it has been turbulent. We are in some turbulent waters now. As a church, we must continue to participate in God\u2019s plan for this country. The prayers for revival in this land led to a dedication of South Carolina to God in March of this year, then the whole country in May, and will be capped off with our 250th<\/sup> celebration in July. Make no mistake, many more battles lie ahead. Will we see 251? 260?<\/p>\n\n\n\n God established this country. Regardless of what Obama and\/or Biden said, we are a nation founded on Christian principles and values. In 1607 at Cape Henry and in 1620 at Plymouth, our earliest founders made a covenant with God to settle this land and share the gospel here and elsewhere. God put His hand on Jamestown and the Pilgrims, the Revolutionary War, the Constitution, and other founding efforts, such as the Great Awakenings. We are the only country in the world that has had one Constitution since its founding. Our Declaration of Independence and the 1789-ratified Constitution have survived foreign invasions, the Civil War, civil unrest, corrupt governments, and cultural collapse. Will we survive our turning away from God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Until recently, our country was the most evangelistic nation in the world. We sent more missionaries across the world than any other country. We out-give every country in the world. But we have lost our way. We have started to compromise our values, and the American churches have moved away from God\u2019s Word. We entertain false doctrines and compromise on God\u2019s Word. The book of Revelation lists the compromising church in 2:12, the corrupt church in 2:18, the dead church in 3:1, and the lukewarm church in 3:14. We can find them all here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Government was established, in part, to protect our borders. In Deuteronomy 2:4-6, 9, & 19, God established borders and expects countries to protect and respect others\u2019 borders. In our history, if we haven\u2019t respected other countries’ borders, we paid a heavy price (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan). When we engage in protecting others in accordance with God\u2019s plans, we are successful (Venezuela, WW1, WW2). We are not to let foreigners walk in and take the land God has given us. The recent socialist\/communist led immigrant invasion has not been blessed by God. Cities are falling from within, collapsing under the weight of their own godless corruption. Innocent people are murdered by known criminals and thugs who entered unvetted. We have been flooded with those who do not honor God or want to become a part of this God-given culture. These elements have joined forces with the SJWs on the far left to generate chaos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Are we perfect? Far from it. Are all countries supposed to be like the USA? No. But we are to be God\u2019s people, loving each other and showing God\u2019s love. God is supposed to be our guide, our beacon of light that we follow (Psalm 27:1-5). We have people in this country who are now trying to institute forms of government that are atheistic at their core (Islam\/Sharia law, socialism, and communism). That is not what God envisioned for His people. Don\u2019t get me wrong, unbridled republics and capitalism can be oppressive and evil just like communism and Islam. \u201cThe love of money is the root of all kinds of evil\u201d (1 Timothy 6:10). The presence of evil comes in varying intensities. That is why Founding Father, John Adams, our second president, declared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c[Our government is not] \u2018capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion\u2026Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n He, along with our other Founding Fathers, knew they were giving us a great deal of freedom. It could be abused and would be abused if amoral and antichrist people ascended to power. The freedom granted by God would be taken away by man if left to his\/her own devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have strayed within our government. We have strayed within our schools, within our families, and within our churches. We want our ears tickled (2 Timothy 4:3-4); we don\u2019t want to hear and abide by God\u2019s Word (2 Timothy 3:5). We are too comfortable in our wealth and abundance. We like misinterpreting God\u2019s Word because that allows us to hang on to the sin we love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How many times have we heard, \u201cWell, you can\u2019t legislate morality?\u201d What a load of malarky! What do you think laws do every day? Stealing, murder, and speeding are all against the law. We just legislated against the morality of the thief, the murderer, and the lead foot. The only question is, what morality will we legislate? Will we let the socialists and communists legislate sloth fortified by illegal immigration and government handouts? Will we let the pagans and witches legislate murder by abortion and euthanasia? Will we let Islam establish sharia law in direct opposition to God\u2019s law for this land? It is just a matter of what morality we will tolerate or legislate. Stand up, Church of God Almighty! We know what we need to fight for and who we fight against!<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a country, we must once again embrace that God put us here and covenanted with us for one reason. To serve Him. We are to love others as ourselves, while not compromising His Word. We are to go unto all nations, teaching and baptizing them into the Kingdom of God (Matthew 28:18-20). If we fail to do the job He has given us, we may very well be judged and lose this great country of ours. On May 17th, millions are rededicating this land to God Almighty. This is in recognition of what He has already done for us. We are humbling ourselves before Him, praying, seeking His face, and repenting of our personal and national sins. God promises to hear us in heaven and heal our land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For what length of time He will heal this land, I do not know. We are inexorably moving to the end of time. However, our job remains the same for whatever length of time He stays His hand and saves this country. Over the next few months, we have the opportunity to participate in the primaries that will decide who we can choose from in November\u2019s midterm elections. If we are serious about getting this country back in line with God, we must vote the Bible. We should never vote based on personality, good or bad, what we like or don\u2019t like about a candidate\u2019s tone and language. We must seek God and choose the God-fearing and righteous people He would want. Choose based on what God has outlined in His Word.
